QantasLink welcomes QLD route decision

Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) subsidiary QantasLink has welcomed the Queensland Government’s decision on regulated air service routes.

Australia’s biggest airline says the decision will ensure regional and rural communities across Queensland continue to have access to air travel.

QantasLink has been awarded the Brisbane – Roma – Charleville route and the Brisbane – Longreach – Barcaldine – Blackall route.

The decision will see QantasLink upgrade all Roma, Longreach, Barcaldine and Blackall services to its 74-seat Q400 aircraft and Charleville services will be upgraded to the Q300 aircraft.

Queensland’s State Government says the decision was made after a robust and competitive tender process and the outcome is a positive one for Queenslanders.

Qantas Airways reported a net loss of $2.84 billion in the full 2014 financial year.
