Company News

BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:BHP) has donated $US400,000 to the Ebola response in West Africa.

The global diversified mining company says the donation is in response to the widespread devastation caused by the outbreak.

Funds will go to the Pooled World Health Organisation (WHO) Ebola Response fund and provide immediate actions to support the impacted countries.

Money will also be directed to neighboring countries at risk of the Ebola outbreak until December 2014.

BHP has a presence in the region through its iron ore exploration assets and says the Ebola disaster is impacting every person living in the affected countries, including its employees and contractors past and present.

BHP Billiton reported a net profit of $16.16 billion in the full 2014 financial year.
