Energy Resources pushes ahead with approvals

Energy Resources of Australia Limited (ASX:ERA) is pushing ahead with approvals for its proposed Ranger 3 Deeps underground mine in the Northern Territory. 

The Rio Tinto Limited (ASX:RIO)-backed uranium producer has today lodged a draft environmental impact statement for the project.
 
Energy Resources says the document is an important milestone in the approvals process and a result of significant consultation, research and studies. 

The document assesses environmental and social impacts and proposes safeguards to manage the potential impact from development.

The company has advised Ranger 3 Deeps prefeasibility study is on schedule to be completed this year and considered by the board in the first quarter of 2015. 

Energy Resources of Australia is targeting first production from the project at the end of 2015, subject to board and regulatory approval. 

Energy Resources of Australia reported a net loss of $127 million in the first half of the 2014 calendar year.
