A consortium including UGL Limited (ASX:UGL) has won a $3.7 billion operations contract to deliver Australia’s biggest public transport project.
North West Rail Link will be delivered in part by the NRT (Northwest Rapid Transit) Consortium including UGL, Leighton Holdings Limited
(ASX:LEI), MTR Corporation and Plenary Group.
As part of a public private partnership with the New South Wales Government the consortium will design, build, finance and operate the new rapid transit service.
The project will eventually service a 36 kilometre route between Rouse Hill and Chatswood when operations start in the first half of 2019.
UGL has also advised its $1.2 billion sale of global property services business DTZ is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
UGL reported a net profit of $68.5 million in the full 2014 financial year.
