Sky NZ loses broadcast bid

Company News

Sky Network Television Limited has failed to renew broadcasting rights for the US, European and Asian PGA Golf Tours.

Previously, the television audience of these tournaments represented just over 1 percent of total viewership on all SKY channels.

During negotiations, The New Zealand pay TV operator did manage to secure renewed rights to a range of sporting events, notably a major cycling package which includes the Tour de France.

The network says golf enthusiasts can still tune in to the US Masters, British and Australian Opens for 2015, exclusively on Sky.

Sky Network Television recorded a net profit of $150 million for the financial year ended 30th June 2014.
