Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) is seeking to lure its frequent fliers to a new online hub to help members explore the ways to earn and use points.
Australia’s biggest airline has launched what it describes as an online mall stocked with premium global brands. The site is geared to reflect the program’s range of partners, number of members and the increasing volume of points earned through activities other than flying.
Members can earn up to five points for every dollar spent when they shop online with retailers such as David Jones, Apple, eBay and Selfridges.
The company’s main and original site will still be used to make and manage bookings but the new site will help members get the most from what is on offer from the loyalty program.
Qantas says it is aiming to be the best loyalty program in the world and hopes to facilitate this strategy through helping members to better understand the program on the new site.
Qantas Airways reported a net loss of $235 million in the first half of the 2014 financial year.
