Mermaid Marine faces industrial action

Company News

Shares in Mermaid Marine Australia Limited (ASX:MRM) have moved lower after advising some of its workers intend to take industrial action.

The marine logistics and supply base services provider says the action relates to a proportion of its employees at the Dampier Supply Base wishing better pay, security and flexibility.

The employees intend to engage in 10 consecutive, 24 hour stoppages of work from the end of this month.

Mermaid Marine says the proposed action will not impact its slipway, vessel operations or international operations.

The company is implementing strategies to minimise the impact and remains in ongoing talks with employees with view to attaining a fair and reasonable outcome for all.

Mermaid Marine Australia reported a net profit of $24.2 million in the first half of its 2014 financial year.
