Telstra Corporation Limited’s (ASX:TLS) latest outsourcing push will see 671 jobs sent to Asia as part of its increasing focus on the region.
Australia’s largest telco will shift 463 internal jobs and 208 contractor roles offshore over the following year.
Telstra believes the outsourcing will facilitate its development in the region and enable the company to meet demand.
The telco says it needs to have appropriately skilled people where its customers are to win and retain international business.
Many of the jobs are expected to go to India from this September with the outsourcing process rolling on until mid 2015.
Telstra Corporation reported a net profit of $1.7 billion in the first half of its 2014 financial year.
