Starpharma VivaGel condom scores milestone

Company News

Starpharma Holdings Limited’s (ASX:SPL) VivaGel condom has scored a regulatory milestone through receiving the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration device certification.

The pharmaceutical company says clearance will now enable it to launch the product and will also support certain regulatory processes in other markets.

Starpharma’s marketing partner Ansell Limited (ASX:ANN) plans to launch the VivaGel condom under the brand LifeStyles Dual Protect in the coming months.

While the condoms will be marketed by Ansell and carry the VivaGel brand Starpharma will receive royalties based on sales.

Starpharma received Japan’s regulatory certification of the VivaGel condom in March and is currently pursuing regulatory process in a number of other markets.

Starpharma Holdings booked a net loss of $5.6 million in the first half of the 2014 financial year.
