Qantas launches luxury LA lounge

Company News

Australia’s biggest airline Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has launched a multimillion-dollar luxury business class lounge in Los Angeles.

The Qantas-operated lounge will accommodate 400 customers from today and will increase to accommodate 600 customers when complete in early 2015.

The airline says Los Angeles is one of the airline’s most popular hubs in its overseas network and will also cater for Cathay Pacific and British Airways passengers.

The new lounge takes on a Californian style which has been designed to include a circular fireplace, nine shower suites, spa amenities and a central atrium.

Menus have been created by Sydney chef Neil Perry to reflect LA’s multicultural cuisine such as Mexican, Chinese, Korean and US West Coast street food.

Qantas Airways reported a net loss of $235 million in the first half of the 2014 financial year.
