Qantas call centre cuts suspected by union

Company News

The union representing Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) workers are reportedly considering taking the airline to the Fair Work Commission over concerns it is breaching a work agreement. Qantas is in the middle of identifying $2 billion of savings over the next three years and has already confirmed it is looking at up to 5000 job losses or relocations.

The Australian Services Union claims Qantas is also looking at cuts to its call centres, including 300 positions in Hobart operation but looking to expand an operation in New Zealand.

In the first half of the 2014 financial year, Qantas Airways reported a net loss of $235 million.
