Iltani Resources (ASX: ILT) has announced the successful completion of initial ore sorting testwork on a bulk sample from its Orient diamond drill core. Managing Director Donald Garner highlighted the positive outcome, stating that a five-tonne bulk sample was successfully processed through the TOMRA ore sorting circuit. Iltani Resources is a minerals exploration and development company focused on advancing its projects through various stages of resource definition and metallurgical assessment. The recent testwork represents a key step in the metallurgical evaluation of the Orient project.

The sorting process employed a Dual-Energy X-Ray Transmission (DE-XRT) system, utilising TOMRA’s proprietary contAIne™ AI algorithm to efficiently differentiate material. This advanced method allowed for a clear separation of valuable product from waste. According to the company, the visually impressive results showed that 22 per cent of the feed material successfully reported to product, while 56 per cent was directed to waste. An additional 22 per cent was classified as fines, defined as material less than 6.3mm in size, completing the initial sorting phase.

Following the successful completion of the ore sorting, the sorted sample has now been dispatched for the subsequent stage of metallurgical testwork. The material is heading to Core Metallurgy in Brisbane, where flotation testwork will be conducted. This next phase is crucial for further refining the processing flow sheet and understanding the recovery characteristics of the Orient material, building upon the promising initial results from the TOMRA ore sorting circuit. The ongoing metallurgical program aims to optimise extraction methods for the project.
