Bio-Gene Technology Limited (ASX:BGT), an Australian company developing the next generation of novel insecticides derived from nature, has announced the receipt of a significant research and development tax incentive (RDTI) totalling $343,000. This substantial cash injection, provided by the Australian Taxation Office, specifically relates to eligible R&D expenditure incurred by the company during the 2026 financial year. Bio-Gene’s core mission involves developing novel bio-insecticides designed to address global challenges such as insecticide resistance and the increasing demand for naturally derived pest control solutions.

The Research and Development Tax Incentive is a crucial Australian Federal Government program established to foster innovation within the business sector. Under this initiative, eligible companies like Bio-Gene Technology are able to receive cash incentives equivalent to 43.5% of their qualifying R&D expenditure. For Bio-Gene, these funds specifically bolster both its Australian and eligible overseas expenditures dedicated to the continued development of its flagship products, Flavocide® and Qcide®. These products represent the company’s commitment to delivering new, effective insecticidal active compounds.

Tim Grogan, Bio-Gene Technology’s Managing Director & CEO, emphasised the vital contribution of this government support to the company’s strategic objectives. “The research and development tax incentive program is a very important Federal Government initiative that materially assists Bio-Gene Technology to undertake key technical activities to develop our products for use in global markets,” Mr Grogan commented. He further highlighted that “The development of new insecticidal active compounds involves considerable research and development that is greatly assisted by this government support.” The timely receipt of these funds reinforces Bio-Gene’s financial position, enabling it to advance its crucial research and development efforts in pest management.
