Mesoblast Limited (ASX:MSB), a global leader in allogeneic cellular medicines for inflammatory diseases, develops off-the-shelf cellular therapies designed to counter and modulate severe inflammation. The company today reported a significant financial uplift for its first fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2026, announcing a 44% increase in net revenue from sales of its Ryoncil® product and an 85% improvement in net operating cash spend compared to the prior year period. These results underscore a robust financial quarter for the Melbourne-based biotechnology firm.
For the first fiscal quarter of 2026, Mesoblast recorded net revenues of US$28 million from sales of Ryoncil® (remestemcel-L-rknd), marking a substantial rise from US$19 million in the corresponding period last year. Ryoncil®, which is the first mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) product approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for any indication and the only FDA-approved product for children under age 12 with steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGvHD), saw its highest number of new patient starts in September, following expected seasonal variations related to summer recess. Concurrently, net operational cash spend improved considerably by 85%, reducing to just US$2.3 million from US$14.9 million in the prior year.
This combination of revenue growth and disciplined cash management has bolstered Mesoblast’s financial standing, with a strong cash position of US$99 million recorded at September 30, 2026. Dr. Silviu Itescu, Mesoblast’s Chief Executive, commented on the results, stating, “We see strong year-on-year increase in net revenues and plan for continued growth by increasing penetration and adoption across the 54 onboarded sites.” He further added that the company would “continue to show disciplined capital allocation for our commercial manufacturing needs and late-stage clinical programs, in order to maximize shareholder value.” These preliminary estimates remain subject to completion of customary closing and audit procedures.
