Cynata Therapeutics Limited (ASX: CYP), a biotechnology company primarily known for its Cymerus™ platform which enables the commercial-scale manufacturing of mesenchymal stromal cells from a single, consistent cell source, today announced a significant financial update. The company confirmed it has received its Research and Development Tax Incentive (R&D TI) Refund for the 2025/2026 financial year, amounting to $1,694,183. This substantial refund has been promptly utilised to fully repay the Company’s R&D TI loan, a financing arrangement previously disclosed to the market on 6 July and 30 September 2026.

The R&D Tax Incentive stands as an important Australian Government program, specifically designed to foster innovation by encouraging companies to engage in research and development activities that yield benefits for Australia. For Cynata Therapeutics, this program provides crucial support for its ongoing work in developing its unique and proprietary Cymerus™ therapeutic mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) products. The receipt of this refund not only validates the eligible and innovative nature of Cynata’s research efforts but also highlights the Australian government’s commitment to supporting life sciences and biotechnology sectors.

With the application of the refund, Cynata’s R&D TI loan is now entirely repaid, and the company confirmed it holds no further financial obligations to the lender concerning this facility. After the repayment of the loan, the net proceeds remaining from the R&D TI refund for the Company amount to $1,066,884. This financial injection enhances Cynata’s liquidity and provides the Board with greater flexibility as it continues to evaluate future development pathways for its groundbreaking Cymerus™ technology and explores broader strategic options to realise value from its assets.
