FMR Resources Limited (ASX:FMR), a diversified explorer with a focus on battery and critical minerals exploration and development, has announced the commencement of its inaugural drilling program at the La Lorena Project in central Chile. The company’s projects in central Chile, including the Llahuin JV, La Lorena, and Los Warbos, are prospective for copper, gold, silver, and molybdenite. This initial diamond drilling campaign, planned for a minimum of 2,000 metres over 10 to 12 weeks, has begun at the La Martuca prospect, marking a significant milestone five months after securing the project.
The drill program at La Martuca is strategically designed to test the continuity of mapped mineralised structures, alongside multiple modelled chargeability and magnetic features. These features are located both below and along strike from existing artisanal workings, with one chargeability anomaly spatially related to known mineralisation at La Martuca. FMR’s Managing Director, Mr Oliver Kiddie, highlighted that the campaign would investigate compelling targets, including mineralisation beneath these workings and extensions beyond them, alongside features identified through 3D modelling. The company anticipates receiving assay results approximately six to eight weeks after the completion of the first drillhole.
The La Lorena Project is situated in a favourable magmatic and structural setting for porphyry and epithermal mineralisation, within a regionally significant Trans-Lithospheric Fault architecture. This architecture is interpreted to control magma ascent and metallogenic fertility, linking major mineralised districts in central Chile. FMR Resources plans to continue gathering datasets and drill testing multiple highly-ranked targets across its La Lorena, Los Warbos, and Llahuin JV projects, aiming to update the market on its progress as exploration advances.
