Atlas Arteria (ASX:ALX) announced on 30 September 2026 that it is monitoring potential changes to French taxation laws. Atlas Arteria partners to deliver world-class road experiences, managing toll road businesses in France, Germany, and the United States, including a significant interest in a 2,424km motorway network in eastern France. The French government intends to increase the rate of the Long-distance Transport Infrastructure Tax (TEILD) and extend the Temporary Supplemental Tax (TST) beyond the current year, though with a proposed reduction to its rate, as part of the draft Finance Bill for 2027.

TheThe TEILD currently applies to operators of long-distance transport infrastructure with annual revenues above €120 million. The government plans to raise its rate from 4.6% to a higher, profitability-based rate, capped at 12.2%. This change is projected to increase total TEILD proceeds from approximately €600 million to €1.4 billion. Atlas Arteria noted that its French concessionaire, APRR, is actively pursuing legal recourse regarding the TEILD, which applied to APRR and AREA and cost the APRR Group €126.7 million in 2025.

The Temporary Supplemental Tax (TST), applicable to companies with revenues exceeding €1.5 billion, is expected to be extended beyond 2026, its previous cessation point. While extended, the French Prime Minister indicated an intention to reduce the tax, with overall TST proceeds anticipated to decrease from around €7.3 billion to €5 billion. The draft Budget Bill for 2027 is expected to be presented on 1 October and will be debated in the French Parliament. Atlas Arteria will provide further updates once the Budget Bill is finalised and legislation is passed, noting the final terms may differ.
