JPMorgan Chase, a global financial services firm offering banking, investments, and asset management, has announced the appointment of Mark O’Donovan as its new head of human resources. The move, effective January next year, will see O’Donovan succeed Robin Leopold, who plans to retire in the first quarter of the new year. CEO Jamie Dimon shared the news in a memo seen by Reuters on Tuesday, marking a significant leadership transition within the banking giant’s executive ranks.

Robin Leopold has been a prominent figure in JPMorgan’s human resources division since 2018, contributing over 16 years to the bank’s operations. CEO Jamie Dimon credited Leopold for her pivotal role in guiding the bank through a period of unprecedented challenges. Her leadership was instrumental in navigating the complexities introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting to evolving geopolitical landscapes, and overseeing the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence across the organisation.

Mark O’Donovan, currently serving as the CEO of international consumer banking, brings three decades of experience at JPMorgan Chase to his new role. He will join the bank’s prestigious operating committee and relocate from London to New York for the position. O’Donovan’s extensive career at the firm includes previous stints as chief financial officer of the Commercial & Investment Bank, CEO of Chase Home Lending, and CEO of Chase Auto, demonstrating a broad understanding of the company’s diverse operations.

Following O’Donovan’s transition, Daniel Llano Manibardo, currently the head of international consumer banking for Germany, will step into the role of CEO of international consumer banking. Manibardo will report directly to Troy Rohrbaugh, ensuring a seamless continuation of leadership within this key division. This executive reshuffle underscores JPMorgan’s commitment to strategic talent management.
