Red Sky Energy (ASX: ROG), an Australian company focused on oil and gas exploration and production in the Cooper Basin, has announced a significant development at its Yarrow 4 well in PRL 17. The company, which holds a 20% working interest in the Santos-operated Innamincka Dome Joint Venture, confirmed that Yarrow 4 successfully intersected gas pay. The development well reached a total depth of 2,908 metres on 6 September 2026, with the operator recommending it be cased and suspended as a future gas producer.
Preliminary interpretation of logging while drilling data revealed two gas-saturated zones within the primary target, the Tirrawarra Sandstone, indicating 5.2 metres of low deliverability gas pay. An additional 0.2 metres of low deliverability gas pay was attributed to the Patchawarra Formation. A downhole formation pressure survey over the reservoir section showed approximately 3,335 psi in the Tirrawarra Sandstone. Following casing, a workover rig is expected to be mobilised to fracture stimulate and complete the well.
Red Sky Managing Director Andrew Knox stated that Yarrow 4’s gas pay intersection and subsequent casing align with the company’s development objectives. He noted that Rig 184 will immediately move to drill Yarrow 5 from the same dual-well pad once casing operations are complete. The Innamincka Dome, a proven producing region, benefits from Santos’ established infrastructure, with Yarrow 1 and Yarrow 3 already producing gas into this network. Civil works for the Willowie 2 appraisal well are also scheduled, with spudding estimated for late October 2026. The company reiterated that these preliminary results are subject to revision, and flow rates cannot be determined until the well is fracture stimulated, completed, and tested.
