Clean TeQ Water Limited (ASX: CNQ) has announced it has been awarded a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and early works contract by Sunrise Energy Metals Limited (ASX: SRL) for the scandium recovery circuit at the Syerston Scandium Project in New South Wales. Clean TeQ Water is a global technology leader headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, specialising in providing economic and environmentally sustainable solutions for freshwater scarcity, mine tailings, and metal recovery. Its core markets include water and wastewater recycling, lithium production, and the remining and rehabilitation of mine tailings. This agreement, which follows the company’s preliminary testwork and engineering package, represents a potential total engagement value of up to A$5.4 million.

The contract’s FEED scope is valued at approximately A$2.0 million, excluding GST, and will be delivered on a schedule-of-rates basis, with revenue from this component expected to be substantially recognised in the 2027 financial year. Additionally, the agreement includes a provisional sum of approximately A$3.4 million, excluding GST, for long-lead deliverables aimed at protecting the project’s delivery schedule. These provisional sums are expected to be released in tranches at Sunrise’s election during the FEED phase. The contract’s estimated value is subject to actual hours worked and expenses, and the long-lead deliverables’ provisional sum requires Sunrise’s written instruction for release, without guaranteed commitment.

Peter Voigt, CEO of Clean TeQ Water, highlighted the award as a continuation of a long-standing technical collaboration, serving as a strong endorsement of his team’s work to date. Mr. Voigt stated that moving from preliminary work into FEED and early works is a natural next step for both companies, and expressed his team’s readiness to deliver the ion exchange and refinery packages at the scale the project demands. The company’s proven track record in delivering advanced ion exchange systems and metallurgical process plants provides a robust foundation for project execution, reinforcing its deep expertise in critical metals recovery.
