Javelin Minerals Ltd (ASX: JAV), an Australian mineral exploration company primarily focused on discovering and developing gold and copper resources in Western Australia, has announced the commencement of a significant diamond drill program at its Coogee Gold-Copper Project. The project, located 55km south-east of Kalgoorlie, will see two major intrusive gold-copper targets, Coogee North and Coogee West, undergo deep drilling. This exploration initiative, which began on 2 September 2026, aims to test these highly prospective targets, with the first hole already underway at Coogee North.
The planned 5-6 week program involves drilling two deep diamond holes, each designed to reach depths of between 800 and 1,000 metres. The objective is to identify the source of associated gold-copper mineralisation beneath these large geophysical magnetic anomalies. These anomalies, particularly at Coogee North and Coogee West, are notable for their association with proximal coincident gold-copper and gold anomalism identified in historic shallow drilling. Significantly, no deep drilling has previously been conducted to test the source of these modelled anomalies, which present as large-scale prospective gold-copper targets.
The ambitious drilling campaign is being co-funded through the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS), with Westralian Diamond Drilling of Kalgoorlie undertaking the work. The Coogee Gold Project already hosts a JORC Resource of 3.6 million tonnes at 1.08 grams per tonne gold for 127,000 ounces of gold and 1.0 million tonnes at 0.41% copper for 4,122 tonnes of copper. Mark Cossom, Javelin’s General Manager of Resources and Exploration, expressed enthusiasm for the program, noting that while the targets are conceptual, their magnetic response is consistent with alteration minerals associated with gold-copper mineralisation at Coogee North, alongside extensive near-surface anomalism. Javelin Minerals stated it looks forward to keeping shareholders updated on the program’s progress.
