Hawk Resources Limited (ASX: HWK) announced on 11 August 2026 the intersection of strong near-surface copper mineralisation within the Comet zone of its Cactus Corridor copper-gold project in Utah, USA. Hawk Resources Limited specialises in critical and precious metal exploration, with projects spanning copper and gold in Utah, USA, lithium in Brazil, and scandium in Western Australia. The company’s objective is to rapidly discover, delineate, and develop critical and precious metal deposits for mining. Visible copper mineralisation was logged in five of the seven drill holes completed, part of a programme focused on near-surface mineralisation.
Spot portable XRF (pXRF) assays from the drill core confirmed copper presence, with readings ranging from 1.0% to 66.6% copper. Coarse copper mineralisation was intersected in Comet zone holes, and drilling is now progressing into the Cactus zone. Managing Director Scott Caithness highlighted that pXRF grades of 66% copper suggest potential chalcocite mineralisation, with the dominant chalcopyrite grading up to 35% copper. The copper primarily occurs within tourmaline breccia and may extend into altered intrusive rock, as per preliminary logging. Highly anomalous spot pXRF silver, arsenic, and antimony assays in three holes (DD26CT008, CT010, CT011) also indicate strong gold potential.
This ongoing drilling aims to delineate near-surface mineralisation along the approximately 1km Cactus Corridor, stretching from the historical Comet deposit through the Cactus mine to the New Years prospect. Previous Hawk drilling yielded significant intercepts, including up to 26m at 1.3% copper at New Years, and wide mineralised zones at the Cactus deposit. Four additional holes remain in the Cactus zone. Laboratory multi-element assay results for all completed holes are expected to be reported in September and October 2026, following sampling and analysis.
