Transurban Group (ASX: TCL) announced on 7 August 2026 the successful financial close of WestConnex’s A$915 million financing package. Transurban is a leading developer, operator, and manager of urban toll road networks across Australia, North America, and Canada, focusing on improving urban mobility through smart infrastructure solutions. This substantial financing was secured by WestConnex Finance Company Pty Limited, the dedicated financing vehicle of WestConnex, marking a significant step in the project’s ongoing financial management.
The A$915 million capital raising was structured through Asian term loan facilities, segmented into three distinct tranches. This includes A$325 million with an 8-year term, A$470 million set to mature in 10 years, and an additional A$120 million with a 12-year maturity period. The primary objective of these newly secured funds is to facilitate the repayment of existing debt obligations and cover associated transaction costs pertinent to the WestConnex enterprise.
The maturity dates for these new facilities are precisely set for August 2034 for the A$325 million tranche, August 2036 for the A$470 million tranche, and August 2038 for the A$120 million tranche. It was further clarified that these facilities will rank equally with WestConnex’s existing senior secured debt, ensuring a consistent and stable financial hierarchy. Transurban maintains a substantial 50.0% interest in WestConnex, underscoring its pivotal involvement in the major infrastructure project.
