Westpac Banking Corp
(ASX:WBC) has won the title of world's most sustainable corporation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The lender ranked first from 100 corporations, which participated in a data driven corporate sustainability assessment.
Westpac chief executive Gail Kelly says social, environmental and economic responsibility were part of the bank's culture.
The bank has implemented a sustainability strategy that includes measures such as committing $6 billion towards lending and investing in clean tech and environmental services by 2017.
So far the bank has focused on renewable energy, including two major wind farms and a solar farm.
Westpac Banking Corporation reported net profit of $6.89 billion in the 2013 financial year.
