Sky Network Television (ASX:SKT) has confirmed its broadcast deal with SANZAAR Rugby.

The network reached an agreement with the New Zealand, Australian, South African and Argentinian Rugby Unions last night and is subject to Sky shareholder approval.

The new deal will see Sky deepen its investment in all levels of rugby and New Zealand Rugby (NZR) to become a shareholder in Sky.

The deal extends Sky’s existing SANZAAR broadcast rights to 2025 with the five-year agreement including the rights to broadcast rugby in NZ from 2021 to 2025 as well as NZR becoming a 5% shareholder in Sky.

The deal comes as good news for the broadcaster after it lost the Cricket New Zealand rights last week to Spark Sport putting an end to an almost 15 year partnership.
