Downer (ASX:DOW) wins $200m coal contract

Contractor Downer EDI (ASX:DOW) has been awarded a two-year contract worth around $200 million to provide mining and related services at the Goonyella Riverside coal mine.

The mine is owned by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance and is located in central Queensland.

The contract, which will start on October 1, has provisions for it to be extended for up to a further three years.

Downer CEO Grant Fenn, says the company is very pleased to be extending its relationship with BMA at Goonyella.

Shares in Downer EDI (ASX:DOW) are trading 0.26 per cent higher at $7.82.
