AGL Energy confirms schedule of Liddell power station closure

AGL Energy (ASX:AGL) released the minutes to their annual general meeting today reiterating the schedule for the closure of the Liddell power station.

They will work with the Commonwealth-led taskforce.

They recently announced the first unit would close in April 2022 and the remaining three units closing in April 2023, to support system reliability throughout the 2022 to 2023 summer.

They will continue to progress a number of projects to provide further capacity to the market.

Chairman Graeme Hunt told shareholders they will carry out more analysis this year to understand the impact of climate goals on the closure plans.

Shares in AGL Energy (ASX:AGL) are trading 1.12 per cent higher at $19.
