Woodside strikes Japanese LNG deal

Woodside Petroleum Limited (ASX:WPL) has struck a deal with Chubu Electric to supply up to 1.5 million tonnes of LNG over three years.
 
Under the sales and purchase agreement effective from April, LNG will be delivered to Chubu Electric, sourced from Woodside’s Pluto LNG project.
 
Woodside CEO Peter Coleman says the deal supports the company’s long-term relationships with major Japanese energy buyers.
 
Other terms of the agreement have not been revealed as they are commercial in confidence.
 
Woodside Petroleum reported a net profit of $971.4 million in the first half of the 2013 financial year.
