Woolworths Limited
(ASX:WOW) and Wesfarmers Limited
(ASX:WES) owned Coles have been listed in the world’s top 20 retailers.
With global retail giants Wal-Mart and Tesco topping the list, Woolworths came in at number 15 – up 2 places, while Wesfarmers-owned Coles dropped a position to 19th.
According to the Deloitte Global Powers of Retailing report, Woolworth's revenue for 2012 was $US58.6 billion, while Wesfarmers posted $US54 billion in revenue.
The aggregate retail revenue of the top 250 retailers around the globe totalled $US 4.29 trillion.
The report also analysed e-commerce, with online sales growing 25 per cent on average for top 250 retailers with online shopping capabilities.
Woolworths reported a net profit of $2.26 billion in fiscal 2013.
