Wet'n'Wild blames promoters for NYE disaster

Company News

Village Roadshow Limited’s (ASX:VRL) recently opened Wet'n'Wild water theme park in Sydney has blamed external promoters after an event was cancelled on New Years Eve.

Australia's first music festival at a water theme park was called off hours before it was due to start on New Years Eve after the venue was not satisfied the promoters, One Cube Entertainment, had addressed production or safety issues.

Though One Cube Entertainment has vowed to refund all tickets sold Wet'n'Wild has not escaped the bad publicity as angry ticket holders vent their frustration on social media.

Questions have now been raised over why Wet'n'Wild chose to hire out its venue to organisers with limited experience arranging an event on such a large scale.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks are understood to have returned the money they received from One Cube Entertainment on the condition it is used to refund almost 9,000 ticket holders.

Village Roadshow boosted its net profit to $51 million in the 2013 financial year.
