Myer Holdings Limited
(ASX:MYR) has reported total first quarter sales of $691.1 million, up 0.44 per cent compared to last year.
The retailer says its strongest performers were the cosmetics, youth, womenswear and menswear departments.
The best performing states were Queensland, Victoria and the ACT, while online sales more than doubled.
Myer exclusive brands and concessions also posted positive growth in the quarter, while fashion business Sass and Bide experienced solid sales growth during the quarter.
CEO Bernie Brookes says the result is in line with expectations and offers encouragement for a busy christmas and stocktake trading period.
Mr Brookes said the improved online performance came on the back of significant improvements in the online store and its supporting infrastructure.
Myer Holdings generated a full year net profit of $127 million in fiscal 2013.
