Bega mulls bid sweetner

Company News

Bega Cheese Limited (ASX:BGA) is poised to make a decision on raising its bid for Warrnambool Cheese & Butter Factory Co (ASX:WCB).

The NSW dairy company is involved in a three-way bidding war for WCB with Murray Goulburn and Canada's Saputo.

Bega adviser David Williams told media he expected Bega's board to meet this afternoon, when it will discuss two aspects of the bid.

Analysts are tipping Bega to raise its offer of $2 cash plus 1.2 Bega shares, but Mr Williams says that might not be necessary.

Bega Cheese generated a net profit of $25.4 million in fiscal 2013.
