Woolworths sales rise 3%

Woolworths Limited (ASX:WOW) sales topped $15.68 billion in the three months to October - rising three per cent on the same period a year ago.
 
The figure includes sales from the retail giant's supermarkets, liquor stores, Big W, petrol stations, hotels and home improvement division.
 
Sales were up 6.4 per cent across the company's Australian and New Zealand supermarkets and petrol outlets, which collectively sold more than $13.8 billion worth of goods.
 
Meanwhile, Woolworth's petrol division saw sales rise 12.6 per cent during the quarter.
 
Sales from its home improvement division were up 28.2 per cent, given the ongoing rollout of Masters stores.
 
Woolworths reported a net profit of $2.26 billion in fiscal 2013.
