Optus rings in $60M contract

Company News

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (ASX:SGT) Singtel-owned Optus has won a $60 million telecommunication services contract from Virgin Australia Holdings Limited (ASX:VAH).

The Virgin deal is the latest scoop by Optus after it won a lucrative mandate worth $550 million to supply managed telecommunication service to ANZ bank for the next five years.

Optus says it secured the deal through a competitive tender process as well as the company’s renewed focus on the enterprise market.

Optus integrated Optus business with Alphawest and Singtel subsidiary NCS in May to better target growing enterprise and government demands for managed services such as data storage, unified communication and contact centre.

The telco also flagged it’s close to signing more deals with both corporate and government clients soon.

Singtel generated a net profit of $2.7 billion in fiscal 2013.
