Seven Group Holdings Limited
(ASX:SVW) has hired former resources minister Martin Ferguson as group executive of natural resources.
Mr Ferguson told media he is likely to focus on Seven Group's Caterpillar operations.
He will start in his new position on October 9.
Executive chairman Kerry Stokes says Mr Ferguson brings an extraordinary appreciation of the opportunities that mining and resources deliver to the country’s economy and all Australians.
Mr Ferguson told media he made the decision to join Seven after turning down an opportunity to take the top job at the Minerals Council of Australia.
Seven generated a net profit of $488.6 million in fiscal 2013.
