Nufarm optimistic despite downgrade

Company News

Nufarm Limited (ASX:NUF) chairman Donald McGauchie says the worst is behind the chemicals supplier after a full-year earnings downgrade.

Shares in the group have bounced since falling to an 18-month low in late March when Nufarm downgraded its full-year profit outlook following poor weather conditions.

The group lost the exclusive rights to distribute weedkiller Roundup in Australia and it also took a hit when global chemicals giant BASF moved to distribute its range of crop protection products in the local market directly.

Mr McGauchie says the worst is now over for the company.

Nufarm generated a net profit of $8.8 million in the first half of the 2013 financial year.
