BC Iron questions Pilbara rail project

Company News

BC Iron Limited (ASX:BCI) has questioned a plan Brockman Mining Limited (ASX:BCK) and Aurizon Holdings Limited (ASX:AZJ) to build a new Pilbara rail line.

The junior iron ore miner questions whether the line can be built without broader support from miners, according to media reports.

Under the terms of the rail plan, Brockman has inked an exclusive deal with Aurizon to develop the Pilbara's first independent rail line.

But BC Iron questioned whether the plan can go ahead without support from at least one more larger junior iron ore miner working in the area.

BC Iron generated a net profit of $7.7 billion in the first half of the 2013 financial year.
