Sydney Airport passengers rise

Sydney Airport Limited (ASX:SYD) saw international passenger grow by almost 6 per cent in May.
 
Total passengers increased by 2.8 per cent, with year-to-date passenger growth of just over 3 per cent to 15.3 million passengers.
 
Domestic passenger numbers were up by 1.6 per cent during the month, reaching 10.1 million for the year to date.
 
Asian nationalities led the way in terms of international growth, especially people from Singapore, China and Japan.
 
CEO Kerrie Mather says the increasing number of Asian passengers highlights the importance of the Sydney market and the success of ongoing Asia-focused initiatives.
 
Sydney Airport produced a net profit of $158.1 million in its 2012 financial year.
