Virgin Australia Holdings Limited
(ASX:VAH) says a weaker Australian dollar is having little impact on the airline.
The local currency has plunged over the past month, but Chief Executive John Borghetti says it hasn’t had a major impact.
Mr Borghetti says the oil price is usually the bigger issue, but that’s been stable.
The comments come after Air NZ
(ASX:AIZ) reportedly made an application to the Foreign Investment Review Board seeking permission to raise its stake in Virgin Australia Holdings Limited
(ASX:VAH) to 26 per cent.
That’s sparked speculation Air NZ may be readying itself to attempt a Virgin Australia takeover although Air NZ says it’s not seeking control of the company.
Virgin Australia generated a net profit of $23 million in the first half of the current financial year.
