New face at Arrium’s helm

Company News

Arrium Limited (ASX:ARI) has appointed Andrew Roberts its new chief executive officer and managing director, to be effective from July 1.

Arrium says Mr Roberts will replace Geoff Plummer and is well placed to take the company forward.

Chairman Peter Smedley says Mr Plummer's legacy would include the transformation of Arrium from a domestic focussed steel business to a growing international mining and materials group.

The news comes after Arrium announced its year-to-date sales are 23 per cent higher than the previous corresponding period.

The iron ore miner expects to sell between 8.2 and 8.4 mega tonnes for the full year in line with previous guidance.

Arrium posted a net loss of $445.4 million for the first half of the current financial year.
