Billabong loses staff

Company News

Billabong International Limited (ASX:BBG) is losing senior staff as prolonged talks continue with potential suitors, according to media reports.

Billabong Girls vice-president of design Mandy Fry and Sector 9 president Steve Lake have resigned from the company, and other senior staff have left surfwear retailer in the past year, including its chief financial officer, head of strategy and head of human resources.

But a Billabong spokesman told media the latest departures were about people taking new opportunities.

Billabong's shares have remained suspended from trade as talks continue with several potential suitors.

The group led by Billabong executive Paul Naude, who has partnered with buyout firm Sycamore Partners, has failed to secure a deal after two successive exclusivity periods.

Previous bidders Altamont Capital Partners and VF Corp are reportedly back in contention for a deal.

Billabong posted a net loss of $536.9 million for the first half of the current financial year.
