Woodside eyes Canada LNG project

Company News

Woodside Petroleum Limited (ASX:WPL) has confirmed it’s submitted a non-binding expression of interest to the British Columbia government to investigate building a liquefied natural gas export facility at Grassy Point on the north west coast of Canada.

The news comes just days after the oil and gas giant shelved its Browse project in Western Australia.

Woodside says the non-binding expression of interest aligns with its strategy to examine new growth opportunities.

British Columbia’s government says Woodside is among four international oil and gas companies to submit EOIs for the LNG export plant near Prince Rupert.

Woodside Petroleum generated a $2.9 billion net profit in its 2012 financial year.
