Qantas Airways
(ASX:QAN) has officially been given the green light by the competition watchdog, to integrate with its subsidiary, Jetstar Asia, in the booming Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore markets.
In announcing its decision, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission predicted the move was likely to deliver benefits for passengers.
ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said the coordination would provide a greater frequency of flights as well as improved connections and increased destinations.
In markets where the two airlines overlap, the competition watchdog noted it was satisfied that exisiting players are generating adequate competition.
