AFL commissioner Chris Lynch will maintain his position with the sporting body, despite taking up a top executive role with global miner Rio Tinto
(ASX:RIO).
The news was delivered at yesterday’s AFL annual briefing in Melbourne.
AFL commission chairman Mike Fitzpatrick said Mr Lynch, who has held his position since 2008, had offered to resign from his post in February, but his resignation was refused.
Mr Lynch, a former Transurban chief, will be based in London.
Rio Tinto last reported a $2.9 billion net loss to December 31.
