Atlas Iron awards Brierty $15M contract

Iron ore producer Atlas Iron Limited (ASX:AGO) has awarded civil and mining contractor Brierty Limited (ASX:BYL) a $15 million contract. 
 
Under the deal Brierty will construct about 60 kilometres of access road for Altas’ Abydos Mine Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
 
This work includes bulk earthworks, drainage and pavement layers which is due to start this month and slatted for completion by the end of June 2013.  
 
Shares in Brierty jumped almost 10 per cent following the news yesterday while shares in Atlas Iron dipped 1.5 per cent to close at $1.34. 
 
Atlas Iron extended its net loss to $256 million in the first half of the 2013 financial year.
