Leighton shares in Defence spend

John Holland, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leighton Holdings (ASX:LEI) has been awarded a coveted construction sub-contract at Sydney’s Holsworthy barracks.  

Works for the Defence Department project total $870 million.

John Holland’s subcontract, which includes earth works and in-ground infrastructure installation, is valued at $148 million.

The company has assured investors of no more costly write downs.  

Leighton Holdings last recorded a net profit of $442 million for calendar  2012.
