Whitehaven Coal Limited’s (ASX:WHC) Maules Creek and Boggabri mine proposals in New South Wales have received conditional approval from the Federal Government.
In a statement released after the market closed yesterday Environment Minister Tony Burke outlined conditions for environmental protection that must be satisfied before the projects can proceed.
The conditional green light comes less than one week after the Federal Government delayed a decision to grant the coal producer approval until late April.
Mr Bourke says the decision was brought forward following the release of commercially sensitive information about the project from the New South Wales state government.
Whitehaven Coal posted a net profit of $62.5 million in the 2012 financial year.
