Coal explorer Yancoal Australia Limited
(ASX:YAL) says its central Queensland coalfields operations have been impacted by ex-tropical cyclone Oswald over the long weekend.
The company’s Yarrabee and Middlemount open cut mines were hit by significant amounts of rain over the weekend, recording up to 420 millimetres.
Water breached the open cut of the Middlemount mine and is likely to halt production for a period of at least three weeks.
Production was halted at the Yarrabee mine over the weekend however after an inspection operations are expected to resume this week.
