Downer EDI wins $90M rail infrastructure work

Engineering firm Downer EDI Limited (ASX:DOW) has won a contract worth more than $90 million for rail infrastructure work in New South Wales.  
 
Transport for NSW has awarded Downer the contract which is one of four projects that form part of the broader Northern Sydney Freight Corridor Program. 
 
Under the agreement Downer will design and construct two new passing rail loops between Gosford and Narara with works slated for completion by mid 2015.
 
The Northern Sydney Freight Corridor Program is geared to improving capacity and reliability of freight trains on the 155 kilometre rail line between North Strathfield and Newcastle.
 
Downer EDI posted a full year net profit of $113 million in the 2012 financial year.
