AngloGold CEO moves to Anglo American

AngloGold Ashanti Limited (ASX:AGG) is on the hunt for a new chief after announcing the departure of current CEO Mark Cutifani. 
 
The South African gold miner says Australian-born Mr Cutifani will remain with the company until the end of March 2012 ahead of taking the top spot as CEO of Anglo American plc (LON:AAL). 
 
Anglogold Ashanti has now initiated a search for a new CEO and appointed its current Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Business and Technical Development to act as joint interim CEO’s before a new CEO is named. 
 
Anglogold Ashanti was last year plagued with industrial action at its South African mines and flagged the potential downsizing of its operations in October 2012. 
 
AngloGold Ashanti booked a net profit of $1.6 billion in the 2011 calendar year.
